Project Description

A design and construct project, the Asian United Food Service (AUFS) features a large warehouse facility consisting of approx. 2500m2 of cold storage and 1500m2 of dry storage.

Sunbuild coordinated all design consultants, arranged DCA approvals and liaised closely with THE client to design the facility to the client’s exact requirements as well as demolishing a Bunnings Warehouse located on the site.

Following a significant fire which impacted the client’s existing business and trade, Sunbuild were instrumental in AUFS getting back to work ensuring a safe structure, reinstating power, water, fire sprinklers and demolishing the fire damaged portion of the building.

Key design changes were made post fire with Sunbuild’s engineer integrating a large fire wall through the centre of the building, a huge first for Darwin. This wall included large spans over open freezer areas supporting a cold room panel suspension system. Working with FRM Refrigeration and the client, the system utilises a combination of screw compressors for medium temperatures, Co2 compressors for low temperatures and a unique warm glycol defrost system utilising heat generated from the refrigeration cycle. The system is both cost efficient and environmentally friendly. This system coupled with solar panelling and LED lighting has created huge ongoing cost savings for the client to the extent that their first power bill was in credit.
