Project Description

Sunbuild was engaged to rebuild the In2Food Facility following an extensive fire that damaged the building.

With only a slab and structural steel remaining, major sections of the building had to be redesigned to adhere to new codes. Sunbuild removed a large area of the ground slab to change the plumbing and allow for a disabled toilet and compliant bathrooms. All existing cool room panels were removed as they were heavily waterlogged and new PIR panels were installed allowing a smaller fridge and freezer plant hence lower power usage.

The stairs to the mezzanine floor had to be removed and rebuilt as they did not meet current compliance guidelines. New offices and lunch amenities on the mezzanine floor were added and the ground floor features a retail area, two large freezers, three large cool rooms, a loading area, the main reception toilet facilities and the general office.

The building is made up of structural steel from the original building, new cladded walls, and roof with new insulation and sisulation for better energy efficiency, large PIR panels for the cool rooms and freezers, LED lighting throughout, stainless steel prep benches and joinery.
