With 40 years construction experience and 30 years in the Northern Territory, Neil is a highly respected businessman and member of the community. At an executive level, Neil doesn’t mind rolling up his sleeves and personally managing key divisions of Sunbuild, overseeing the business’ major plant, precast factory and formwork divisions. His passion for Sunbuild and its impressive achievements motivates staff and clients alike.

Sunbuild’s incredible evolution over the past three decades wouldn’t have been possible without the astute financial management and organisational abilities of founder, Desley Sunners.

Drawing on the company’s holistic approach and mantra of ‘Build with Pride’, Desley has applied the same ethos to the company’s finances and operations.

From her roles in the bank industry Director and Financial Controller of a leader among Darwin construction companies, Desley now has over 40 years experience.

Her leadership and skill in the day-to-day management of the company sets the foundation for Sunbuild’s continued expansion.

Rob Thompson
Rob ThompsonConstruction Manager
With qualifications as a Carpenter & Joiner and holding a Builder’s License, Rob Thompson is a perfect example of Sunbuild’s approach to developing outstanding executive talent.

Hands-on, meticulous and taking great pride in each construction, Rob has risen from his initial role as Site Foreman to become one of Sunbuild’s—and the Territory’s—finest Project Managers.

Rob’s 30 years experience provides an edge as he oversees incredibly complex projects requiring impeccable product knowledge, a deep understanding of the Darwin region and an ability to drive teams to reach milestones.

Instrumental in the delivery of Sunbuild’s major projects like the Darwin Abattoir, Charles Darwin University Nurses Accommodation Units and the refurbishment of 9 Cavenagh Street, Rob has the experience and skills to plan and deliver large-scale constructions.

Rob’s skills in client liaison, subcontract procurement, programming of works and managing site supervisors makes him one of Sunbuild’s finest.

John Gergelifi
John GergelifiProject Manager
John is a highly skilled and dedicated professional with over 35 years experience in both the technical and management aspects of the building industry.

John has worked on a number of iconic projects including Laing O’Rourke’s flagship 100 Mount St Project in North Sydney and Hyatt Capital Gate, ‘The World’s Most Leaning Tower’ in Abu Dhabi UAE in a Project Director and Senior Project Manager capacity.

With a proven track record in leading specialist teams John has always strived to satisfy clients expectations. He has successfully programmed projects to meet extremely tight deadlines while innovating to find solutions to unforeseen problems.

John brings to Sunbuild a determined attention to detail and quality to drive the delivery of outstanding results. Being a team player and foremost a team leader, he has managed projects to an exceptionally high standard of OH &S and workers welfare.

Joe Martin
Joe MartinProject Manager
Joe Martin commenced his construction career as an apprentice Carpenter Joiner with Sunbuild. Now a Project Manager, Joe has a unique ability to understand documents, work to a schedule/program and maintain strong rapport with subcontractors, labours and clients.

Chris Sunners
Chris SunnersSite Manager
As Sunbuild’s Site Manager Chris has overseen some of Sunbuild’s major projects including the P600 US Navfac Bulk Fuel Storage Facility and the RDH Carpark. Self-motivated and outcome focused, Chris has sound knowledge and understanding of the construction process from his own considerable experience within the construction industry.

Chris is a skilled communicator who liaises with subcontractors, clients and superintendents to manage and ensure projects run smoothly. Chris is a confident and methodical worker who takes great pride in problem solving and the completion of projects to a high standard.

With his hands-on approach and willingness to learn, Chris has firsthand knowledge and expertise to supervise and organise the site on all levels.

Chris works well under pressure and enjoys the challenge of working in the construction industry.

Lindsay Sunners
Lindsay SunnersPlant Manager and Site Supervisor
As Sunbuild’s Plant Manager Lindsay is responsible for all aspects of Sunbuild’s extensive plant including; tower cranes, man and material hoists, forklifts, concrete pump and Sunbuild’s fleet of vehicles.

With over 20 years construction experience, Lindsay oversees the erection and dismantling of equipment on site, all maintenance and repairs and the purchase of new equipment. Lindsay is also the lead on key Sunbuild projects including renovations, civil works and extensions.

One of Lindsay’s key attributes is dealing with the sub-contractors on a day-to-day basis and liaising with clients and superintendents. He possesses the necessary skills to oversee administrative duties such as daily diaries, safety reports, invoice approval and quality assurance administration.
