PERIOD OF ENGAGEMENT:
Start Date 16 June 1999
Original Completion Date 7 January 2000
Final Completion Date: 7 January 2000
REMARKS:
The facility had to be integrated with the existing operating facility. This needed special attention to co-ordinate the design function of the older building with the new technology of today. This issue also found parts of the existing systems had never worked properly since installation, creating a lot more investigation to determine the previous problems and then integrate them with the new system.
Items that had to be integrated included the nurse call, medical gases, chiller system and upgrading of the sub-station.
INNOVATION:
As the design was 60% complete it left only a limited amount of scope for innovation. We, however, did things like replaced the steel tie beams with concrete bond beams on the external wall, resolving acoustic treatment issues between different areas.
