DESCRIPTION:
The project included a 750m2 extension to the existing supermarket to create 6 specialty shops and a Mall. Also, the existing supermarket was refurbished and extended when the existing 3 tenancies were demolished. This work had to take place without closing the supermarket which operated 7 days a week 8.00am to 8.00pm. |
| This project was very challenging to say the least. It required careful planning as the extension had to be build first (which space and access was limited) then the new entrance had to be cut in which, turned the supermarket back to front. This operation had to be done between 8.00pm to 8.00am. A number of services had to be wrapped over in the changeover like the old septic tank to a new sewage treatment. This needed close co-ordination as well. |
Throughout this project the developer had taken a lead role in doing the design. Unfortunately through the process, no landscape area had been set aside for the disposal of the effluent water and the development was surrounded by an open unlined drain. This caused major problems as his first attempt to dispose of the water was on the side of the drain.
Consequently, the system was closed down until fixed. This issue got into such a mess Sunbuild had to step in and take over the developers position to resolve the issue with 5 authority departments. After numerous meetings, a game plan was developed to fix the problem and Sunbuild was able to complete the Occupancy Certificate and project. |
