As Co-Founder of Sunbuild, Neil has used his extensive experience in building to develop an impressive business that has become the frontrunner among Darwin construction companies. Driving its success is the ethos that has seen Sunbuild collect 23 major Master Builder Awards.
‘Building with Pride’ is the core value that Neil has successfully applied to all levels of the business. Determined to create an industry leader that prides itself on a holistic approach, Neil Sunners has helped Sunbuild evolve into a company that not only conceptualises, designs and constructs, but also owns the equipment and materials that ensure timely delivery and cost efficiency.
With 40 years construction experience and 30 years in the Northern Territory, Neil is a highly respected businessman and member of the community. He’s certainly earned the respect of Sunbuild’s many clients, delivering solutions in the key private, corporate, education and Government sectors and maintaining the company’s impressive track record of return business.
At an executive level, Neil doesn’t mind rolling up his sleeves and personally managing key divisions of Sunbuild, overseeing the business’ major plant, precast factory and formwork divisions. His passion for Sunbuild and its impressive achievements motivates staff and clients alike.
Having co-founded the company and playing a crucial role in its incredible growth, you can be sure Neil Sunners’ hands-on approach will further contribute to more rapid expansion in the future as Sunbuild seeks to deliver increasingly ambitious constructions.
Joining the business soon after it was founded, Jim soon took the helm of the rapidly expanding business’ constructions, using his extensive trade skills and detailed understanding of building practices to maintain Sunbuild’s impressive growth.
With such a granular knowledge of the ins and outs of building sites, Jim was able to further the improvement of staff and their practices while contributing to Sunbuild’s reputation as an innovator. Now, with 30 years experience, Jim’s understanding of construction is encyclopaedic. He’s not only an exceptional Director and manager, but also a thought leader in the industry.
At the helm of Sunbuild’s constructions, Jim is proud of every project but especially fond of the large scale and innovative projects that are notable credits among Sunbuild’s long history of successes. Evolution on Gardiner, Darwin’s finest address, and Darwin’s Immigration Centre are among highlights. Jim considers Darwin’s Abattoir to be a highly specialised service processing plant that has set the business apart from its competitors in the Territory.
Drawing on the company’s holistic approach and mantra of ‘Build with Pride’, Desley has applied the same ethos to the company’s finances and operations. In partnership with Neil and Jim, she has used her extensive knowledge to build Sunbuild’s culture.
From her roles in the bank industry to Co-Founder, Director and Financial Controller of a leader among Darwin contruction companies, Desley now has over 40 years experience.
Her leadership and skill in the day-to-day management of the company sets the foundation for Sunbuild’s continued expansion.
Beginning in the public sector and joining Sunbuild shortly after its conception, Pam has worked in partnership with Neil, Jim and Desley to position the business and lay the foundations for its success. Priding itself on a collaborative and inclusive approach to workplace processes and policy, the organisation sets a high standard that Pam maintains and furthers with her extensive knowledge of organisation and human resources.
As workplace safety and industrial relations become an increasingly complex element of constructions, Pam continues to make Sunbuild one of the top employers in the Territory.
With a Diploma in HR Management and over two decades of intense practice at the helm of Sunbuild’s workforce, Pam is a key player in the company’s proud past and promising future.
Hands-on, meticulous and taking great pride in each construction, Rob has risen from his initial role as Site Foreman to become one of Sunbuild’s—and the Territory’s—finest Project Managers.
Rob’s 30 years experience provides an edge as he oversees incredibly complex projects requiring impeccable product knowledge, a deep understanding of the Darwin region and an ability to drive teams to reach milestones.

Rob’s skills in client liaison, subcontract procurement, programming of works and managing site supervisors makes him one of Sunbuild’s finest.
